Kids Zone Hours vs. the School Day: How the Two Actually Line Up

Forney TXkidschildcarefamilies

School starts today in Forney ISD, tomorrow in Crandall and Rockwall. Here’s a question we get every August: does the Kids Zone even matter once my kids are in school?

Depends entirely on their ages. Here’s the honest map.

The Hours

Kids Zone
Monday – Friday8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Monday – Friday4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
SundayClosed

Ages 1–11. Up to two hours per child per day. Nut-free room.

How That Overlaps the School Day

Take Crandall ISD’s published 2026-27 bell times as the example:

  • Elementary — 7:55 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
  • Middle — 7:20 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
  • High — 8:25 a.m. to 4:10 p.m.

Line those up against the Kids Zone and three groups fall out clearly.

If all your kids are school-age (5+): the Kids Zone is largely irrelevant to you Monday through Friday, and that’s fine — the whole school day is your window. The morning block after drop-off is wide open, and you don’t need childcare for it. Saturday 8–1 is where it comes back into play.

If you have a kid under 5 at home: this is the group the school-year Kids Zone exists for. Drop the big kids at 7:45, be here at 8, toddler in the Kids Zone, done by 9:30. It’s the single most common pattern we see from September through May.

If you have a mix and one kid gets out earlier: the 4–8 p.m. block covers the after-school gap. A middle schooler off the bus at 3:30 and a first-grader at 4 can both be in the Kids Zone by 4:15 while you train, provided everyone’s 11 or under.

The Two-Hour Limit Is Real

Two hours per child per day, and it’s enforced. This is a workout room, not a childcare solution — if what you need is coverage while you work, the Kids Zone is not that, and we’d rather tell you now than have you find out at the counter.

We wrote up the private preschool and daycare options in Forney separately for anyone who needs actual childcare.

The Rules, Plainly

  • A parent or responsible adult must be exercising or using the facility on-site, and must remain in the club the entire time. No leaving to run errands.
  • Caregivers can reach you at all times.
  • Two hours per child, per day.
  • Ages 1–11, included with a family membership.

The Kids Zone is a supervised play area for parents exercising at TX Fitness — not a licensed childcare operation, not a drop-off daycare, and not regulated or authorized by the State of Texas (Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Regulation). Full disclaimer here.

What It Costs

$12 every two weeks, per child, as part of a family plan. The plans:

PlanEvery 2 weeks
1 Adult + 1 Kid$31
2 Adults$38
1 Adult + 2 or more Kids$43
2 Adults + 1 Kid$50
2 Adults + 2 or more Kids$62

No family plan has an annual fee. And “2 or more kids” means exactly that — two kids and five kids cost the same. All prices plus tax, no contract, cancel with 30 days’ notice.

The Weeks It Really Earns Its Keep

Not the ordinary Tuesdays. The broken weeks:

  • Fall break, Oct 12–16 — Forney, Crandall, and Rockwall are all out the same week
  • Thanksgiving, Nov 23–27 — same, all three
  • Winter break, Dec 21 through the first week of January
  • The two-week spring break problemForney is out March 8–12 and Crandall March 15–19, which means if your household spans both districts, that’s two straight weeks

Those are the weeks routines die. Having somewhere the kids can go for two hours while you do something for yourself is worth more in those weeks than in the other forty.

Saturdays

Kids Zone is open Saturday 8 a.m.–1 p.m., and our free HIIT class is Saturday at 9 a.m. in Studio X — 50 minutes, coach-led, free, open to non-members. Those two facts go together well.
