Fall Youth Sports in Forney and Crandall: Who's Still Taking Registrations
Fall registration windows in this area close early — most of them before school even starts. If you’re just now thinking about it in the first week of August, you’re late for some leagues and right on time for others. Here’s where things stand.
Forney Recreational Sports (FRS)
The city-run program, through Forney Parks & Recreation. FRS runs baseball, softball, and soccer for ages 3–15.
For fall soccer, the 2026 calendar ran:
- Early bird registration — June 15–21 ($20 discount)
- Regular registration — June 22 – July 19
- Late registration — July 20–26 ($20 late fee)
- Practice begins — August 10
- Games begin — August 22
So the soccer window has closed and practices are already underway. Registration links and the current catalog live at the city’s registration page.
Forney Youth Athletic Association (FYAA)
The Spartans program is the other big one, and it carries the sports the city doesn’t: tackle football, flag football, cheerleading, dance, basketball, and baseball. FYAA draws from Forney and the surrounding towns, so Talty, Heartland, and Crandall families end up here regularly. Details at fyaaspartans.com.
Forney / Crandall NFL Flag
A joint league covering both towns, run through Neighborhood Sports. Registration includes an NFL team jersey, game shorts, regular season games, a Forney playoff tournament, facility rental, and UIL-certified officials — which is a genuinely complete package compared to leagues that nickel-and-dime you on uniforms.
This is the one to look at if your kid wants football but you’re not ready for tackle.
Forney Soccer Club
The competitive/select track, separate from city rec soccer, at forneysoccer.org. Different commitment level — more travel, longer season, tryout-based.
What This Costs You in Time
Here’s the part nobody puts in the registration brochure. A single kid in one fall sport typically means:
- Two weeknight practices, usually 5:30–7:30 p.m.
- One Saturday game, anywhere from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Twenty to forty minutes of driving per event
Two kids in two different sports and you’ve just spent your entire weeknight evening block and most of Saturday morning. That’s the real reason parents stop working out in September — not motivation, geometry.
Working Around It
The practical answer is to move your training out of the evening entirely, because evenings are gone from mid-August through November.
Mornings. We open at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. A 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. session is untouchable by a practice schedule.
During practice. This is the underrated one. If practice is a 90-minute block and the field is anywhere near US-80, you’re already out of the house with time to kill. We’re at 127 E US Highway 80 — a lot of parents here train during the exact window they’d otherwise spend sitting in a camp chair.
Saturday, before the games. Our free HIIT class is Saturdays at 9 a.m. in Studio X — 50 minutes, and it’s over in time for most late-morning game slots. Free, open to non-members, no membership required.
The younger sibling problem. If you’ve got a kid too young for the league sitting through their older sibling’s practice, the Kids Zone covers ages 1–11 weekdays 4–8 p.m., which overlaps the practice window almost exactly.
The Kids Zone is a supervised play area for parents exercising at TX Fitness — not a licensed child-care facility, and not regulated by the State of Texas.
For the Athletes Themselves
Middle and high school kids in fall sports are welcome on the floor here. A family plan runs $31 every two weeks for one adult and one kid, $43 for one adult and two or more, with no annual fee on any family plan. Two kids costs the same as ten.
