What to Expect at the TX Fitness Kids Zone: A Parent's Guide
If you’ve never used a gym’s kids’ area before, the first visit can feel like a leap. Will they be okay? Who’s watching them? What do you even bring? Here’s exactly what to expect at the TX Fitness Kids Zone in Forney — so your first visit feels like your tenth.
The short version: it’s a supervised play area for kids ages 1–11 that lets you get your workout in while your child plays just steps from the floor. You stay in the club the whole time, and most parents are surprised by how smooth it is.
How the Kids Zone Works
The Kids Zone is a supervised play area for members while they work out on-site. You’re not dropping your child off and leaving — you stay in the club, train, and your child plays in a fun, safe, nut-free room nearby. Our team is right there with them, and they can reach you anytime while you’re on the floor.
The Kids Zone is a supervised play area for parents exercising at TX Fitness — not a licensed child-care facility, and not regulated by the State of Texas (Texas HHS Child Care Regulation).
That distinction matters: it’s there so you never have to skip a session, not as a place to leave your kids while you run errands.
Who Can Use It
The Kids Zone serves ages 1 to 11 — everyone from toddlers who aren’t walking steadily yet to older kids who’d rather hang out than do a workout with you. Each child can use the Kids Zone for up to 2 hours per day while you train, which comfortably covers a full session.
Kids Zone Hours
The hours are built around the two windows parents actually train in:
| Days | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday – Saturday | 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM |
| Monday – Friday | 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM |
Mornings work well before naps and errands; the late-afternoon block covers the after-work, after-school rush. For a first visit, aim for the start of a window rather than the last 20 minutes so you get your whole workout.
What to Bring
You don’t need much, but a little prep makes the first visit easier:
- A labeled water bottle or sippy cup — staying hydrated keeps younger kids happy.
- A comfort item for toddlers — a small stuffed animal or blanket if they get nervous.
- A diaper/wipes bag for little ones, with your child’s name on it.
Keep snacks simple and allergy-friendly if you bring any — the room is nut-free. Leave anything valuable or breakable at home, and dress kids in clothes they can play in.
Your First Visit, Step by Step
It’s intentionally simple. When you arrive, bring your child to the Kids Zone and let our team member know who you are and where you’ll be working out. Then you head to the floor for your session while your child plays. When you’re done, you come back and check them out. No complicated app, no badge system, no long orientation.
The first time, arrive a few minutes early so you can introduce your child to the team and answer any questions about allergies or routines. After that, it’s a quick hello-and-go.
What Your Kids Actually Do
Parents worry their kids will be bored or upset. In practice, the Kids Zone has toys, games, and activities — and, just as important, other kids to play with. For a lot of children, the gym becomes the fun part of their day.
If your child has never been in a play area like this, the first session might bring a few tears. That’s normal. Most kids settle within minutes once they see the toys and the other children, and because you’re still in the building, our team can grab you anytime if your child genuinely can’t settle.
What It Costs and How to Add It
The Kids Zone is an add-on to your membership:
- $11 per child, biweekly, on top of the $19 biweekly base membership.
To get set up: sign up for a membership online, then add the Kids Zone anytime in your member portal.
Why Forney Parents Love It
Forney is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, and a lot of that growth is young families. The hardest part of staying consistent isn’t motivation — it’s working out around the kids. The Kids Zone solves that by letting them play while you train, all under one roof. Members from Heartland, Devonshire, Gateway Parks, Talty, and across the area come specifically because TX Fitness is the only gym in Forney with a supervised play area.
Come See It First
