Just Moved to Gateway Parks? Here's the Closest Gym to Your New Home

If you just closed on a home in Gateway Parks — welcome to Forney. You picked one of the best master-planned communities in the area: 2,000 acres, resort-style amenity center, trails for days, and a brand-new elementary school on the way. It’s a great place to raise a family.

But now that you’re settling in, you’re probably looking around and asking the question every new resident asks: where’s the gym?

Gateway Parks has pools and walking trails, but it doesn’t have a full-service fitness center with free weights, squat racks, and personal training. For that, you need to drive — but not far.

TX Fitness Is Right Down the Highway

Gateway Parks sits directly off US-80, and so does TX Fitness. The drive is about 5–7 minutes depending on which section of Gateway Parks you’re in. Head west on US-80, and you’re at the gym before your warm-up playlist finishes its first song.

That’s closer than most people’s commute to a coffee shop.

What You’ll Find That Your Neighborhood Doesn’t Have

Gateway Parks’ amenity center is great for a casual swim or a jog on the trails. But if you’re serious about building strength, losing weight, or just getting a real workout in, here’s what TX Fitness brings to the table:

  • Free weights — dumbbells from 5 to 120+ lbs, barbells, and plate-loaded machines
  • Multiple squat racks and bench press stations — no waiting around during peak hours
  • Full cable machine area — for isolation work, accessories, and functional movements
  • Cardio floor — treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and stair climbers
  • Functional training area — turf, sleds, battle ropes, and open space for circuits
  • Personal training — certified trainers who can build you a program from scratch

The Kids Zone

If you’ve got young kids — and in Gateway Parks, most families do — this is the feature that makes everything possible. The Kids Zone at TX Fitness is supervised, clean, and designed to keep your children engaged while you train. Drop them off, get your workout in, and pick them up happy. No guilt, no scrambling for a babysitter.

A Gym That Matches Gateway Parks’ Community Feel

One of the things that drew you to Gateway Parks was probably the community — the events, the neighbors, the hometown atmosphere. TX Fitness has that same energy. It’s been locally owned in Forney since 2001, long before the Gateway development even broke ground.

The staff knows members by name. People say hello. It’s the kind of gym where you’ll run into your neighbors from Gateway Parks and actually stop to talk.

That’s a different experience than walking into a massive chain gym where nobody looks up from their phone.

The Gateway Parks + TX Fitness Routine

Here’s what a lot of Gateway Parks families are doing:

  1. Morning session — TX Fitness opens at 5:00 AM on weekdays, so early risers can train and be back home before the kids wake up
  2. Kids Zone drop-off — bring the whole family, train while the kids play
  3. Post-workout errands — since you’re already on US-80, swing by the grocery store, grab gas, and head home

One trip, everything handled. And with memberships starting at $19 biweekly, it’s one of the most affordable options in the area.
