The Forney ISD Aquatic Center: Costs, Rules, and What Changes in the Fall
The Forney ISD Aquatic Center at 431 Inspiration Way, across from Rhodes Intermediate, is one of the better public facilities in Kaufman County — and one of the more confusing ones, because the schedule changes substantially once school starts.
Here’s what’s actually true about it.
What Open Swim Costs
It is not free, which surprises people:

The Pass20 pays for itself at 12 visits for the public rate. If you’re a regular family, buy the pass.
Two Rules That Send People Home
Children 3 and under are not permitted in the water during open swim. This is the big one. If you’ve got a toddler and a seven-year-old, open swim is not a both-kids activity. Plan for it before you load the car.
Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. So no dropping off a middle schooler.
The Programs
Beyond open swim, the center runs a real slate:

Water aerobics is the one worth flagging for parents with knees that don’t love running. It’s low-impact in a way almost nothing else is.
What Changes in August
Once school is back, the pool’s primary job becomes district athletics — swim team practice, PE, and middle school swim. Open swim windows shrink and move. The shallow end in particular runs on a limited schedule that depends on whatever else is booked.
The practical advice: don’t assume last week’s hours. The district publishes a current Aquatic Center schedule, and it’s the only reliable source. Check forneyisd.net/aquatic-center or contact the aquatics managers before you drive out there.
The Splash Pad Runs Out Soon
Separate facility, worth knowing: the splash pad at Forney Community Park runs Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, daily 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Labor Day 2026 is September 7, so you have about a month left.
After that, the free outdoor water option in Forney is done until next May.
The Year-Round Alternative
Once the splash pad closes and open swim tightens up, the indoor options matter more. That’s most of the fall and winter.
We’re at 127 E US Highway 80 — about ten minutes from the Aquatic Center — and we’re open 5 a.m.–11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday, and 6 a.m.–9 p.m. weekends. Over 10,000 square feet, full free-weight floor, machines, and infrared saunas, which after a fall swim meet is not the worst thing in the world.
The Kids Zone takes ages 1–11 — including the under-3s that open swim won’t — Monday through Saturday 8 a.m.–1 p.m. and weekdays 4–8 p.m. Up to two hours per child per day, and it’s nut-free.
The Kids Zone is a supervised play area for parents exercising at TX Fitness — not a licensed child-care facility, and not regulated by the State of Texas.
For Swim Team Families
If you’ve got a kid in FEAR or middle school swim, you already know the drill: you’re at the pool anyway, for a long time, several times a week. Dryland strength work is the thing that separates swimmers who improve from swimmers who plateau, and it doesn’t require anything exotic — pull-ups, rows, hinges, core.
High school and middle school athletes are covered on a family plan: $31 every two weeks for an adult plus one kid, $43 for an adult plus two or more, no annual fee.
